The US faces a pivotal moment / Net Zero

The US faces a pivotal moment: According to Princeton’s Zero Lab report, U.S. electricity demand is expected to grow 20-25% from 2022 to 2030 and reach 38-49% higher than 2022 demand by 2035. [https://lnkd.in/eEqwDbb3

Clearly the old playbook that the US utilities have employed to serve approximately 1% demand growth over the last decades seem archaic in this landscape. With rising costs from supply chain constraints and long lead times for legal social permitting and licensing, acting as major barriers to build the vital transmission infrastructure, utilities must find innovative ways to align with the ambitions of meeting the growing electricity demand.

This will require a systemic rethinking – from stakeholder engagement, capital delivery, sourcing, execution, to cost control.

Leaders need to be open to bold bets in M&A, consolidation, and scale economics for better strategic positioning and to accelerate the pace of change.
